The Friends of Florida State Parks (FFSP) is a nonprofit citizen support organization that supports all of Florida’s State Parks and is considered as the leading advocate of the Florida Park Service. In addition, FFSP is a valuable resource for the Citizen Support Organizations that work with the various parks though out the state. Forty-three couples gathered together on the beach at sunset to celebrate their marriage by renewing their vows to each other. Rev. Dick Tafel, of the New Church of SW FL conducted the ceremony. Upon arrival, couples posed individually for photos, enjoyed watching Rick Mungeam, professional sand sculptor, create the centerpiece for the renewal circle, listened to the music of DJ, Tom Maio and enjoyed light refreshments. A champagne toast followed the ceremony along with wedding cake and door prizes.
The grand prize for the event was an overnight stay and $75 dining certificate donated by the nearby Lovers Key Resort/Hotel. The winning couple was Alan and Sue Lutz of Saint Joseph, MI. Jim & Dorothy Lynch of Estero were recognized for celebrating 65 years of marriage.
All proceeds from this event will go to the Visitors Center building fund. If you were one of the couples on the waiting list, or are interested in participating next year, check the web site beginning early January, 2013, so you don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity.
Rick Mungeam donated his service and talent by sculpting a beautiful heart and key for the event. For more information on Rick visit his web site at www.BeachSandSculptures.com
