Lovers Key State Park

Visitor Center

We have
  a dream.

You can help
it come true.

Lovers Key State Park is one of the most visited state parks in Florida. There are trails to hike, beaches to visit, birds to watch and canals to kayak but there is no visitor center for the many people that come to the area.

FOLKS has made its primary focus the development and eventual construction of a visitor center for the park. The purpose of the visitor center will be to help all visitors to the park learn about and appreciate the marvelous gem we have here at Lovers Key State Park.

The new center will include programming space, exhibits and displays, office space and a new gift shop. As we embark on this Dream there will be much to do.

FOLKS is currently in Phase I of the development of the new Visitor Center. We have beautiful architectural renderings completed by Rich Donnley, that are being used as a beginning image for the LKSP Visitor Center. We also have set a tentative site for the center.

Progress Report

Concept drawings were completed in 2010, and the FOLKS could now show potential donors the Lovers Key Visitor Center vision.

In May 2011, The FOLKS Board visited nature centers across the region to consult on the logistics of bringing the building from the drawing board to construction. They learned that although the way ahead was long, a course could be mapped.
