There are many opportunities to lend a hand at Lovers Key State Park. You can apply your talents to helping the Friends of Lovers Key meet their goals. You can also complete the training to become an official state park volunteer. Or both!
Volunteering with Lovers Key State Park is an opportunity to help preserve our natural and cultural heritage for future generations. Volunteers provide a much-needed work force—they provide a wealth of services, making the park's state dollars go farther. Volunteers are Lovers Key ambassadors, creating a meaningful bond between the local community and the park.
If you would like to become a state park volunteer you need to fill out an application. You may fill out the Online Volunteer Application or paper applications can be picked up and then dropped off at the Lovers Key State Park ranger station.

In addition to volunteer efforts for the Park, FOLKS could use your time too. Here are some of the ways you can help.
Neeley Murphy shows her love and dedication to Lovers Key State Park by manning the FOLKS T-Shirt Table. FOLKS activities such as this, help the organization raise money to assist the park when requested. In her role, Neeley serves as ambassador for the park, and is in a perfect position to share information with visitors, as well as gauge the quality of their experiences.
You too, can be a volunteer! Many members of the Friends of Lovers Key State Park are also official State Park Volunteers, which give them a perfect excuse to spend more time at the park they love.

The Governor’s Points of Light Award program recognizes those Florida residents and organizations that demonstrate exemplary volunteer service to their community. Winners have ranged in age from 6 to 101 but the common thread is their love of their community and their belief that through volunteering, they can make a positive impact.
Lovers Key FOLKs has been fortunate to have had two Point of Light Winners. The first winner was Marjorie and David Ward in 1998. Pam Jones-Morton was recognized for her efforts in 2008. This is a special honor for the individuals, FOLKS and the park.

FOLKS volunteers promote Lovers Key State Park at 25th Annual American Sand Sculpting Festival on Ft. Myers Beach
The 25th annual sand sculpting competition and festival was held at Fort Myers Beach, two miles from the park entrance, on the weekend of November 5, 2011. FOLKS volunteers set up a tent to sell t-shirts and hand out information about the park and its programs.
