Eve Haverfield presentation to FOLKS meeting May 1st at Lovers Key Resort was a great time. Eve shared her knowledge and experience regarding the various species of turtles, breeding, nesting and what we can do to help this endangered species. In addition she shared many stories related to her work with Turtle Time.
It was a great opportunity for everyone to learn and understand how we can help since Turtle nesting season started on May 1st. FOLKS members and quests learned not to leave lights on along the beach and to remove all chairs and other items from the beach at the end of the day. Why...because turtles become entangled and can not remove themselves from these objects. When the turtles drag the object back into the water with them they will drown! These were great points and she shared many more with the attendees during the talk.
If you attended you had a great experience and if not hope to see you at the meetings this coming fall. Lots of fun things planned so keep watch on the website for dates and activities.
FOLKS Board would like to thank Eve Haverfield for sharing her knowledge and advise and to Lovers Key Resort for offering the meeting room for this gathering.
