The Fundraising Committee for the proposed visitor center at Lovers Key State Park has presented to the FOLKS Board the idea of hosting an annual Fishing Tournament at Lovers Key State.

The Friends of Lovers Key, Inc. (FOLKS) is seeking volunteers for two phases of a proposed Annual Lovers Key State Park “Backwater Roundup Fishing Tournament”.

Phase One: Develop scope of the tournament – including dates, times, locations, rules, fees, sponsorships, etc.

Phase Two: Tournament Day Volunteers – Captains meeting setup, weigh in, MC/Host, rules chairperson, etc.

The proposed fishing tournament is a Catch and Release (no kill) event with all rules and regulations of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FFWCC) being imposed. The event is being planned as a Summer/Fall 2013 launch date (times to be announced).
